Hindu Dance-Bharatanatyam -Ganesha Stuti
Bharatnatyam is one of the many traditional dance from India.It originated in grand temples of Ancient India.Its oldest description goes back to sangam literature. It originated around 2B.C-1B.C in Temples of Shiva in South-India. It has its inspirations from the sculptures of the ancient temple of Chidambaram. In ancient times it was performed as "dasiattam" by mandir (Hindu temple) Devadasis. Many of the ancient sculptures in Hindu temples are based on Bharata Natyam dance postures karanas. In fact, it is the celestial dancers, apsara's, who are depicted in many scriptures dancing the heavenly version of what is known on earth as Bharata Natyam. In the most essential sense, a Hindu deity is a revered royal guest in his temple/abode, to be offered the "sixteen hospitalities" - among which are music and dance, pleasing to the senses. Thus, many Hindu temples traditionally maintained complements of trained musicians and dancers, as did Indian rulers. In Kali Yuga, the center of most arts in India is Bhakti (devotion) and therefore, Bharata Natyam as a dance form and carnatic music set to it are deeply grounded in Bhakti. Bharata Natyam, it is said, is the embodiment of music in visual form, a ceremony, and an act of devotion. Dance and music are inseparable forms; only with Sangeetam (words or syllables set to raga or melody) can dance be conceptualized. Bharata Natyam has three distinct elements to it: Nritta (rhythmic dance movements), Natya (mime, or dance with a dramatic aspect), and Nritya (combination of Nritta and Natya). It is believed that Bharata Natyam is mainly a renewal of Cathir, the ancient art of temple dancers.This dance form denotes various 19th and 20th century reconstructions of Cathir, the art of temple dancers from ancient dance forms. Essential ideasBharata Natyam is considered to be a 'fire dance' — the mystic manifestation of the metaphysical element of fire in the human body. It is one of the five major styles (one for each element) that include Odissi (element of water), Mohiniattam (element of air), Kuchipudi (element of earth) and Kathakali (element of sky). The movements of an authentic Bharata Natyam dancer resemble the movements of a dancing flame. Contemporary Bharata Natyam is rarely practiced as Natya Yoga (popularly known as 'Dance Yoga'), a sacred meditational tradition, except by a few orthodox schools. Bharata Natyam proper is a solo dance, with two aspects, lasya, the graceful feminine lines and movements, and tandava Ananda Thandavam (Tamil) (the dance of Shiva), masculine aspect, which is identical to the Yin and Yang in the Chinese culture Bharata Natyam performance lasts about two hours, and includes six or more of the following parts: Allarippu - A presentation of the Tala punctuated by simple syllables spoken by the dancer. This really is sort of an invocation to the gods to bless the performance. Kautuvam - Ancient temple dance item performed in the beginning of the recital, containing rhythmic syllables sung for jathis. Ganapati Vandana - A traditional opening prayer to the Hindu god Ganesh, who removes obstacles. See also Pushpanjali Jatiswaram - An abstract dance where the drums set the beat. Here the dancer displays her versatility in elaborate footwork and graceful movements of the body. Shabdam - The dancing is accompanied by a poem or song with a devotional or amorous theme. Varnam - The center piece of the performance. It is the longest section of the dance punctuated with the most complex and difficult movements. Positions of the hands and body tell a story, usually of love and the longing for the lover. Padam - Probably the most lyrical section where the dancer "speaks" of some aspect of love: devotion to the Supreme Being; or of love of mother for child; or the love of lovers separated and reunited. Stuti - Hymn in praise of a deity that may contain a feigned mockery, etc. See also Stotra Koothu - Item containing a lot of dramatic elements. Javali - Javalis are relatively new, pure abhinaya types of compositions of light and pleasing nature. Like Padams the underlying theme of Javalis is Sringara Rasa depicting the Nayaka-Nayaki bhava. Thillana - The final section is a pure dance (nritta) when the virtuosity of the music is reflected in the complex footwork and captivating poses of the dancer. Apart from these items, there are items such as Shlokam, Swarajathi, Krithi etc. The performance concludes with the chanting of a few religious verses as a form of benediction. Certain styles include more advanced items, such as Tharanga Nritham and Suddha Nritham. When a dancer has mastered all the elements of dance, as a coming out performance, he or she generally performs an Arangetram (debut). Angikam - This is a devotional song on Lord Shiva and an item dance in bharatnatyam. It can also be performed in byapti slow motion.

Ascending Kali yuga started in AD 500 and ended in AD 1700.Kali Yuga or Iron age is only 1200 year duration in every cycle. The book, The Holy Science, combines the astrological eras with time periods that are described in ancient Hindu works, notably the Manusmriti 1.69,1.70,1.71,1.72 MANU a great Rishi [ illuminated sage] of SATYA YUGA, describes these YUGAS more clearly in the following passage from his SAMHITA or Sanghita or Manusmriti " Chatvaryahu: sahstrani varshanantu KRITAM YUGAM; tasya tavachhati sandyam Sandhyamshch tathavidh: . etareshu sasandheyeshu sasandhyamsheshu cha trishu; ekapayen vartante sahastrani shatani cha. yadetat parisankhyatmadaveva CHATURYUGAM; etad Dawadassahastram Devanam yugamuchyate. Devikanam yuganantu sahastram parisankhyaya BRAHMmekmahrgyeyam tavati ratrireva cha. Thus It says : [ Reproduced from page 13 & 14 By Yogananda's guru SWAMI YUKTESHWAR Giri's THE HOLY SCIENCE ] " 4000 years , they say , is the KRITI YUGA [Satya yuga or the golden age of the world ]. Its morning twilight has just has many hundreds, and its period of evening dusk is of the same length [i.e. 400 + 4000 + 400 = 4800 ]. Manu says : In the other three YUGAS with there morning and evening twilights ,the 1000 and the hundred decreased by one [i.e. 300 + 3000 + 300 ] etc. That four fold cycle comprising 12000 years is called an Age of the GODS.The sum of the thousand DIVINE AGES constitutes ONE DAY OF BRAHMA;and the same lent is its night.Thus the time period of 4 YUGAS are : SATYA YUGA = 400+ 4000 + 400 = 4800 Years. DWAPER YUGA = 200+2000 + 200 = 2400 Years KALI YUGA = 100 + 1000 +100 = 1200 Years 12000 YEARS, THE SUM TOTAL OF ALL PERIODS OF THESE 4 YUGAS IS THE LENGTH OF THE DAIVA YUGAS or electric couple, two of which, that is 24000 years make the ELECTRIC CYCLE COMPLETE. Sri Yukteswar (10 May 1855 - 9 March 1936)describes an interesting variant of the Hindu theory of ages. According to him,...the sun, with its planets and their moons, takes some star for its dual and revolves around it in about 24,000 years of our earth-a celestial phenomenon which causes the backward movement of the equinoctial points around the zodiac. The sun also has another motion by which it revolves round a grand center called Vishnunabhi, which is the seat of the creative power, Brahma, the universal magnetism. Brahma regulates dharma, the mental virtue of the internal world. Yukteswar goes on to explain that the sun's 24,000 year revolution around its companion star takes the sun progressively closer, and then progressively further away from the mystic center Vishnunabhi. In his system, dharma increases as we approach Vishnunabhi and decreases as we draw away from it. The cycle of yugas takes place twice in each 24,000 year revolution. As the sun recedes from Vishnunabhi, the ages pass in the usual order: Satya, Treta, Dvapara, Kali. As the sun approaches Vishnunabhi, the ages pass in the opposite order: Kali, Dvapara, Treta, Satya. This video is based on Hindu scripture and Sri Yukteshwar's famous book Holy Science.His Yuga and time-lines correction has been accepted by scientist world wide and has been verified using the Hindu scripture and also Historical evidence.Binary Lab has been discovering the binary star around which our sun revolves as explained by Sri Yukteshwar. Details of Mahavtar Babaji(Kalki) is given in the book Autobiography of a Yogi Nikola Tesla used ancient Sanskrit terminology in his descriptions of natural phenomena. As early as 1891 Tesla described the universe as a kinetic system filled with energy which could be harnessed at any location. His concepts during the following years were greatly influenced by the teachings of Swami Vivekananda. Swami Vivekananda was the first of a succession of eastern yogi's who brought Vedic philosophy and religion to the west. After meeting the Swami and after continued study of the Eastern view of the mechanisms driving the material world, Tesla began using the Sanskrit words Akasha, Prana, and the concept of a luminiferous ether to describe the source, existence and construction of matter. . By the year 1891, Nikola Tesla had invented many useful devices. These included a system of arc lighting (1886), the alternating current motor, power generation and transmission systems (1888), systems of electrical conversion and distribution by oscillatory discharges (1889), and a generator of high frequency currents (1890), to name a few. The words that Jesus left unspoken will not remain forever a secret. When we examine the progress of history, we find that a new dispensation begins when the old dispensation is about to end. The new dispensation comes into conflict with the former age. Jesus for example came at the close of the old testament. Just as at his first coming, Christ will similarly be persecuted when he comes again.

What would have happened if Jesus had not been crucified ? The people of Jesus time did not believe in Jesus; instead they led him to the cross. Jesus' body was exposed to Satan's assault and he was killed. Therefore even when faithful Christians are united with Jesus, their bodies remain exposed to Satan's attack just as was Jesus' body. In our personal faith, we may feel it necessary to deny our flesh to prevent Satan ensnaring us through our bodies.

Response to DawahFilms: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F9N9YuQv0lg Something I forgot to mention in the video was that in regards to the story of the Jewish woman converting to Islam due to her experiencing kindness from a Muslim is an unnecessary thing to do, just as apostasy due to malevolent acts committed by adherents to a specific faith would be unnecessary. Pedophile Priests are no more a reason to stop believing in God than Mother Theresa is a reason to start believing in God. While a change in ethical character is the moral of the story presented by DawahFilms, and the moral of the story certainly stands, I believe it also stands that the kindness of persons who adhere to a particular supernatural belief is not in and of itself a reason to also adopt the supernatural belief, even if their example of kindness is one that I think should lead a person to adopt kindness as a moral policy. 48a What does Heaven on Earth look like ?
We can compare the Kingdom of Heaven to an individual who has achieved perfection of character. In this individual, the members of his physical body are coordinated in horizontal relationships with each other. They move as one in response to the vertical commands of the brain. In similar fashion, people in the Kingdom of Heaven will form cooperative horizontal relationships with each other and live together in tune with the vertical directions emanating from God. No one will harm his neighbor because if one person were to suffer pain, everyone in this society would experience the Heart of God who shares in that person's grief. Also God gave us the mandate to have dominion over all things (more in the video .......)

Spiritual, But Not Religious? (with Father Thomas Keating)
Religious, but not Spiritual? Good News and Bad News from the World's Largest Religion It takes a moment to reconcile oneself to the fact that the religious tradition of St. Francis and Mother Theresa is also the tradition of the Crusades and the Inquisition. Fr. Thomas Keating, considered one of the great contemplatives of our time, has spent a lifetime in the practice of Christianity, seeking and sharing its depths. The goal of the tradition, suggests Fr. Thomas in this week's video, is transformation—but transformation into what? The answer depends on what stage of development you're at. Beyond becoming a better person (though your family and friends may thank you profusely), beyond even becoming a saint, Fr. Thomas suggests that the goal of the mature Christian life is to become no thing. As with any developmental sequence, the subject of one stage becomes the object of the subject of the next—in this case, until absolute Subjectivity itself. The problem—and the challenge—lie in the fact that, among its 2 billion adherents, relatively few are aware of Christianity's mystical tradition and contemplative path. Statements like "I'm spiritual, but not religious" actually come from a fairly evolved place, from which one rejects external aspects of the tradition, while still longing for its esoteric wisdom. Integral spirituality offers an entirely new perspective on this question. From this perspective, we can see that although the stories of the world's religious traditions vary wildly, the contemplative experience is essentially similar. And from Integral, we can appreciate the stories for what they are, the first rung in a ladder of development—both our own development, and that of anyone on a similar path. In the end, no matter how profound the state in which we experience the divine, it is always interpreted from our stage of development. Integral also points to the reality of our shadow, and points out that we might need something other than our contemplative practice to bring it into the light. Finally, Integral can help us both to transform into deeper stages of awareness and compassion, and to translate our current stage in the healthiest way possible.
