Firstly, that we cannot have a state of affairs where any country can go to war; and secondly, that we should not extend this concept to groups that constitute a threat within other states. ** Christopher Hitchens: It is often assumed the concept of pre-emption runs counter to the nexus of international law. It also gives all the signs or Nishans about this world's final dissolution or Kayamat (Qayamat) and the coming of Second Christ in this mortal world for His Beloved souls. Finally it also explains about the Heaven or Paramdham or Lahoot which is beyond the imagination of all saints and sadhus of this world and which is the true abode of Satchidanand (Sat + Chid + Anand) or Supreme Truth God and his Consort Shyama Ji and all the souls (Momin). Incredible India-Classical dance from India (3)-Bharatnatyam from Tamil Nadu

Bharatnatyam is one of the many traditional dance from India.It originated in grand temples of Ancient India.Its oldest description goes back to sangam literature. It originated around 2B.C-1B.C in Temples of Shiva in South-India. It has its inspirations from the sculptures of the ancient temple of Chidambaram. In ancient times it was performed as "dasiattam" by mandir (Hindu temple) Devadasis. Many of the ancient sculptures in Hindu temples are based on Bharata Natyam dance postures karanas. In fact, it is the celestial dancers, apsara's, who are depicted in many scriptures dancing the heavenly version of what is known on earth as Bharata Natyam. In the most essential sense, a Hindu deity is a revered royal guest in his temple/abode, to be offered the "sixteen hospitalities" - among which are music and dance, pleasing to the senses. Thus, many Hindu temples traditionally maintained complements of trained musicians and dancers, as did Indian rulers. In Kali Yuga, the center of most arts in India is Bhakti (devotion) and therefore, Bharata Natyam as a dance form and carnatic music set to it are deeply grounded in Bhakti. Bharata Natyam, it is said, is the embodiment of music in visual form, a ceremony, and an act of devotion. Dance and music are inseparable forms; only with Sangeetam (words or syllables set to raga or melody) can dance be conceptualized. Bharata Natyam has three distinct elements to it: Nritta (rhythmic dance movements), Natya (mime, or dance with a dramatic aspect), and Nritya (combination of Nritta and Natya). It is believed that Bharata Natyam is mainly a renewal of Cathir, the ancient art of temple dancers.This dance form denotes various 19th and 20th century reconstructions of Cathir, the art of temple dancers from ancient dance forms. Essential ideasBharata Natyam is considered to be a 'fire dance' — the mystic manifestation of the metaphysical element of fire in the human body. It is one of the five major styles (one for each element) that include Odissi (element of water), Mohiniattam (element of air), Kuchipudi (element of earth) and Kathakali (element of sky). The movements of an authentic Bharata Natyam dancer resemble the movements of a dancing flame. Contemporary Bharata Natyam is rarely practiced as Natya Yoga (popularly known as 'Dance Yoga'), a sacred meditational tradition, except by a few orthodox schools. Bharata Natyam proper is a solo dance, with two aspects, lasya, the graceful feminine lines and movements, and tandava Ananda Thandavam (Tamil) (the dance of Shiva), masculine aspect, which is identical to the Yin and Yang in the Chinese culture Bharata Natyam performance lasts about two hours, and includes six or more of the following parts: Allarippu - A presentation of the Tala punctuated by simple syllables spoken by the dancer. This really is sort of an invocation to the gods to bless the performance. Kautuvam - Ancient temple dance item performed in the beginning of the recital, containing rhythmic syllables sung for jathis. Ganapati Vandana - A traditional opening prayer to the Hindu god Ganesh, who removes obstacles. See also Pushpanjali Jatiswaram - An abstract dance where the drums set the beat. Here the dancer displays her versatility in elaborate footwork and graceful movements of the body. Shabdam - The dancing is accompanied by a poem or song with a devotional or amorous theme. Varnam - The center piece of the performance. It is the longest section of the dance punctuated with the most complex and difficult movements. Positions of the hands and body tell a story, usually of love and the longing for the lover. Padam - Probably the most lyrical section where the dancer "speaks" of some aspect of love: devotion to the Supreme Being; or of love of mother for child; or the love of lovers separated and reunited. Javali - Javalis are relatively new, pure abhinaya types of compositions of light and pleasing nature. Like Padams the underlying theme of Javalis is Sringara Rasa depicting the Nayaka-Nayaki bhava. Thillana - The final section is a pure dance (nritta) when the virtuosity of the music is reflected in the complex footwork and captivating poses of the dancer. Apart from these items, there are items such as Shlokam, Swarajathi, Krithi etc. The performance concludes with the chanting of a few religious verses as a form of benediction. Certain styles include more advanced items, such as Tharanga Nritham and Suddha Nritham. When a dancer has mastered all the elements of dance, as a coming out performance, he or she generally performs an Arangetram (debut). Angikam - This is a devotional song on Lord Shiva and an item dance in bharatnatyam. It can also be performed in byapti slow motion.

Neelam (born 3 March 1968) is a former Indian actress and an established jewelery designer.Neelam was born and spent her early childhood in Hong Kong, before her family shifted to Bangkok. She learnt Ballet for 5 years in Hong Kong. The family has a traditional jewelery making business. She got married to Rishi Sethia, son of a rich businessman from U.K despite opposition from Rishi's family. They married in Hong Kong, but divorced.She also dated Bobby Deol for long in late 1980s to until 1993 . It is rumored that Govinda, her co-star in many films had a crush on her, and pursued her for a long time before he finally gave up.These days she is seen with actor Sameer Soni at parties and events. She is very close to Sanjay Kapoor's wife - Maheep Kapoor and is regularly seen in the Mumbai with her other close friends Ekta Kapoor, Sunita Menon, Bhavna Pandey and Farah Khan.After her early childhood in Hong Kong, her family moved to Bangkok and Neelam was holidaying in Mumbai and was approached by Ramesh Behl. She decided to give it a shot and did Jawaani in 1984 alongside Karan Shah (Tina Munim's nephew), but the film became a flop. She soldiered on ahead and became famous in 1986 in the film Ilzaam opposite another debutante Govinda. She went on to make a regular pairing with Govinda in movies such as Love 86 (1986), Khudgarz (1987), Hatya (1988), Taaqatwar (1989) and Do Qaidi (1989). Since then she made many other movies in the late 1980s wit mixed success. She is also noted for her appearance in the 1998 movie Kuch Kuch Hota Hai where she appeared as herself in the movie playing a VJ. In 1999 she appeared in the multi-starrer family film Hum Saath-Saath Hain: We Stand United. Her most recent release was Kasam in 2001.Even while pursuing her career in acting, she was into jewelery designing and was involved in the family business. She did a formal course in Mumbai and after saying goodbye to films in 1999, she started her out commercially on her own under the name of Neelam Jewels. She opened her showroom in Mumbai in 2004 and has never looked back since.

The film's failure disappointed her and even though she did a couple more child roles. At sixteen she decided to try acting again and make her debut as a heroine, but she was rejected from Vijay Bhatt's Goonj Uthi Shehnai (1959) in favor of actress Ameeta, because the filmmaker claimed she was not star material. The very next day, film producer Subodh Mukherjee and writer-director Nasir Hussain cast her as the heroine in Dil Deke Dekho (1959) opposite Shammi Kapoor which made her a huge star. The film also led to a long and fruitful association with Hussain. He went on to cast her as the heroine in six more of his films: Jab Pyar Kisi Se Hota Hai (1961), Phir Wohi Dil Laya Hoon (1963), Teesri Manzil (1966), Baharon Ke Sapne (1967), Pyar Ka Mausam (1969), and Caravan (1971). She also did a cameo role for his film Manzil Manzil (1984). He also got her involved in distribution of films for 21 years, starting with Baharon Ke Sapne (1967). She was primarily known as a glamour girl/excellent dancer/tomboy in most of her films, until director Raj Khosla gave her a serious image by casting her in tragedienne roles in three of her favorite films: Do Badan (1966), Chirag (1969), and Main Tulsi Tere Aangan Ki (1978). Director Shakti Samanta gave her more dramatic roles in her other favorite films, Pagla Kahin Ka (1970), and Kati Patang (1970), the latter earned her the Filmfare Best Actress Award. Many important directors repeated her several times in their films, such as Vijay Anand, Mohan Segal and J.P. Dutta. After her days as a leading lady ended, she took on supporting roles as bhabhi (sister-in-law) and mother, but she called this the "awkward phase" of her career. So she stopped acting in films, and her friends recommended that she become a television director. Asha stopped acting in 1995 to pursue directing and producing television serials, but her acting accomplishments were not forgotten as she received the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 2002. And she has continued to receive other Lifetime Achievement Awards: Kalakar Award in 2004; International Indian Film Academy Awards in 2006; Pune International Film Festival Award (2007); Ninth Annual Bollywood Award (2007) in Long Island, New York. She received the Living Legend Award from the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry(FICCI). Asha has remained unmarried, claiming that her reputation of being unapproachable made people hesitate in asking her hand in marriage. There were rumors that she was romantically involved with her married director Nasir Hussain. In her later years, Asha said that she had a longtime boyfriend but declined to elaborate on the relationship, only stating that "it was nice while it lasted." She said she hadn't seen Nasir Hussain the last year of his life, as he became reclusive because of his wife's death, but she did speak to him on the phone the day before he died in 2002. A devastated Asha attended his funeral. Today, she concentrates on her dance academy Kara Bhavan, which has produced many skilled dancers. The Asha Parekh Hospital in Santa Cruz, Mumbai is named after her because of her many contributions. Her considerable wealth provides for many of her social and charitable causes. When asked if she missed having a husband and children, her response was: "I don`t think so. There was a time when I did want to get married. I used to love children, I still love children, but now I feel that I am happy I am not married and don`t have kids, because I don`t think I would have been able to cope up with them."

Babita walked out taking her two daughters with her. She would eventually break the tradition for which she was forced to leave the industry. Her two daughters went on to become huge stars of their generation. After 20 years of separation, Babita re-united with husband Randhir Kapoor in 2007 and moved in with him from her old household. In March 2005, she became a grandmother when eldest daughter, Karisma gave birth to a baby girl. She now lives in Mumbai with Kareena Kapoor.

In nearly every country he travels to, Khan is given a red-carpet welcome and swarmed by thousands of adoring fans. But the 44-year-old megastar of Bollywood wasn't recognized at Newark Liberty International Airport on Friday. He was detained by U.S. Immigration officials for more than an hour and held for questioning. That treatment of the face of the Indian film industry, which churns out an estimated two films a day and generates billions of dollars in ticket sales each year, is reverberating in the U.S. and abroad. In India on Sunday, angry fans burned a U.S. flag in protest and fellow Indian film stars and political leaders condemned what they called "humiliating" treatment of the star. "It's ironic they picked on someone who is such a symbol of progressive values in India and would be considered so anywhere else in the world," said Wasim Khan — no relation — an Indian Muslim from Parsippany. "It should be a matter of concern for all of us who believe in a world of greater tolerance and peace and progressing toward a greater understanding among different peoples and cultures." Although Hollywood earns more revenue and has more expensive productions, Bollywood dwarfs Hollywood in the number of movies it produces and the frenzy that surrounds its top stars. And nobody generates more fervor than the man they call "King Khan." A Muslim actor in a predominantly Hindu nation, Khan, who is married to a Hindu woman, is often referred to as the "world's biggest movie star." In Bollywood, his appeal stretches far beyond India and deep into the Muslim world — from Indonesia to the Middle East. His happy-go-lucky personality on and off camera, his reluctance to take sides in politically charged matters and his "can't we all just get along?" approach to deep divisions between Muslims and Hindus have made him a defacto ambassador for a global generation striving to overcome ancient hatreds. Khan initially said his treatment by U.S. authorities left him "angry and humiliated" but later downplayed those comments and described the airport experience as "a procedure that needs to be followed, but an unfortunate procedure." Khan told the Times of India on Monday that he didn't want an apology from the U.S. authorities, he just wanted to go home. Ironically, Khan was in the U.S. to promote his new film, largely shot in California, about an Indian Muslim with Asperger's syndrome living in a post-911 America. His character's anti-social ticks and odd behavior are mistaken by U.S. authorities as suspicious and he's detained as a suspected terrorist. U.S. immigration authorities have denied they stopped Khan because of his Muslim surname or that he was flagged on any computer alert lists. They say his questioning was routine and was only prolonged because his bag had been lost by the airline. The explanation has done little to calm the anger of Khan's vast fan base, or the ire of Indian Muslims in the U.S., some of whom have been subjected to airport stops in the years following the Sept. 11 attacks. Saeed Patel, 45, an Indian Muslim from Englewood Cliffs who is an American citizen and has three U.S.-born children, was detained last year returning home to Newark airport and is still upset at how he was treated. He is angry, however, that protesters in India are burning the American flag, saying America is much more tolerant of different religions than India. Patel hopes the incident with Khan becomes a teachable moment for people to realize Muslims still face profiling. "Obviously we are outraged," Patel said. "But in a way we are sort of glad it happened to him so it becomes something people talk about."

Tibetan Buddhism Yab Yum

The Bodhisattva Vajrapani is the compassionate patron of the teachings of Buddha, his fierce appearance is one of a powerful protector and remover of obstacles for mankind. He is the holder of the vajra (thunderbolt scepter) which symbolises the power of compassion. In his erotic tantric form of Mahacakra the deity has three faces and six arms and is considered to be associated with the subduing of the Nagas (snakes/serpent-like dragon beings). Portrayed with three heads and six arms, Vajrapani is depicted in yab-yum, engaged in sexual union with his consort and holds a vajra in his raised right hand. Two hands hold the body of a snake as two of his main hands are pointed to the front, making the gestures of abhaya mudra, the pose of protection and fearlessness, and varada mudra, extended down conferring grace and charity. On his head, the Bodhisattva wears a five leaf crown and is adorned with earrings (snakes), bracelets, anklets, pearl decorated skirts, scarves, jewel girdles and ornaments. Snakes writhe in and out of his mouth and his finely curled and flaming hair is tied up into a high chignon in which a small image of Vajrapani is depicted. Resembling her consort, Vajrapani's female partner is righly adorned and bears an urna on her forehead, the sign of great being. She offers a blood filled scull cup in her left hand and wields a kartrika (tantric chopper) in her right. The couple is supported by sun-discs beneath their feet as a stabilising platform and trample on flattened demon-bodies who represent ignorance and evil spirits. The group is depicted on a double lotusthrone, the edges finely decorated with a strand of pearls. The heavy superb casting in copper alloy and the fine yellowish gilding of this bronze reflect the technical skills and artistic imagination of the Nepalese newari craftsmen during the Malla kingdom period. Typical characteristics are the articulated stylistic elements like the five-leaf crowns, skirts, jewellery and ornaments as well as the pronounced double lotusthrone. The tantric icon, the traces of polychrome on the faces, hair, feet and hands as well as the original seal depicting a Vishvavajra at the bottom are all characteristic for a bronze being originally used in a Tibetan monastery, most likely from a south-central (Tsang) origin. The representation of Mahacakrava Vajrapani is captured in a well modelled and inspired composition, revealing an intensive and restrained energy which radiates from this dynamic tantric group. The harmonious balanced union of the fierce erotic couple is complemented by convincing natural volumes, finely articulated details and powerful positioning of body, legs and arms. The snake passing through the deity's mouth increases the vigour and intensity of the couples presence. Striking are the positions of both demons with their heads sticking out of the base. The image is a wonderful example of Tibetan tantric art and is superb from all angles comprising the powerfully conceived back and profiles.

Sadhanaa of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa

Ramakrishna Paramahamsa was an illustrious saint of modern Hinduism who performed austerities as prescribed under different faiths in order to see for himself the same truth as percieved by different religions . His vaidhi sadhana (penance as written in scriptures) began with the coming of Bhairavi Brahmani in the temple of dakshineshwar , where he resided for the majority of his blessed life . Bhairavi was a brahmin tantrik sadhikaa who taught Ramakrishna tantra sadhanaa . after reaching enlightment through tantra Ramakrishna came in contact with Totapuri , a vedantic saint of Dashanami sampradaya . GUIDED MEDITATION FOR STUDENTS PART-1

Hints on Meditation Swami Vivekananda on Meditation: "The greatest help to life is meditation. In meditation we divest ourselves of all material conditions and feel our divine nature. We do not depend upon any external help in meditation. The greatest thing is meditation. It is the nearest approach to spiritual life-the mind meditating it is the one moment in our daily life that we are not material the soul thinking or itself, free from all matter this marvellous touch of the Soul. Do not spend your energy in talking but meditate in silence; and do not let the rush of the out side world disturb you. Accumulate power in silence and become a dynamo of spirituality." The Process of Meditation: 1.Posture (Asana): Sit in the posture (normally, on the floor, cross legged in sukhasanam or padmasanam) in which you can feel comfortable for a long time. Let your body be free from all pressure and tension. You have to sit without shaking the body, keeping your backbone straight and firm. 2.Observation: Try to observe the mind, wait and watch. Until you know what the mind is doing you cannot control it. So you will have to observe what thoughts are causing distraction and either using your will power drive them away or just allow the thoughts to flow on. That means you are neglecting them. One cannot see the bottom of a lake if there are many ripples. It is only when they subside that the water becomes calm and the bottom is visible. The bottom of the lake is ones own true self. 3.Breathing: Take a deep breath slowly and steadily for 6-8 seconds without a break and fill the lungs. Then breathe out for 6-8 seconds slowly and steadily. This process should be continued for 12 times. By this rhythmic breathing the mind becomes calm and peaceful. This will also harmonize the system. 4.Chanting of OM: When you have practiced the rhythmic breathing for sometime you should join it to the repetition of the OM. Let the word flow out with the breath harmoniously and you will find the whole body is becoming rhythmical. Then you will learn what rest is. This repetition is keeping good company in your own mind. 5.Prayer: Mentally repeat: Let all beings be happy; let all beings be peaceful; let all being be full of joy those who belief in God should pray for knowledge and strength. The repetition of the Gayatri Mantra will also be helpful. The more you pray the better you will feel yourself. You can practice even while you are sitting at your work. This is neither difficult not dangerous. 6.Pratyahara (Gathering the thoughts towards oneself): Turning the mind inward and restraining it from going outward with the help of the will is Pratyahara. This has to be practiced with the help of an idea, name or form of God. 7.Dharana (Concentrating the mind upon one object): You can imagine of a lotus in your heart centre and fix the mind on that. You must keep the mind fixed on one object, the thought of which should be like an unbroken stream of oil. By this practice concentration will increase and the mind will enter into meditation or Dhyana. 8.You must practice at least twice everyday. The early morning and early evening are the two periods of calmness. We should take advantage of the time and sit for meditation. Patience, Purity and Perseverance are very important for meditation. Prayers for Meditation: 1. From the unreal lead me to the real From darkness lead me to light From death lead me to immortality 2.Oh Lord you are the embodiment of infinite energy; fill me with energy. You are the embodiment of infinite strength; bestow strength upon me. You are the embodiment of infinite power; grant power unto me. You are the embodiment of infinite courage; inspire me with courage. You are the embodiment of infinite patience; fill me with patience. 3.We meditate on the spiritual effulgence of that adorable supreme Divine reality, the source of the three planes. May that supreme being stimulate our intelligence. Response to DawahFilms: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F9N9YuQv0lg Something I forgot to mention in the video was that in regards to the story of the Jewish woman converting to Islam due to her experiencing kindness from a Muslim is an unnecessary thing to do, just as apostasy due to malevolent acts committed by adherents to a specific faith would be unnecessary. Pedophile Priests are no more a reason to stop believing in God than Mother Theresa is a reason to start believing in God. While a change in ethical character is the moral of the story presented by DawahFilms, and the moral of the story certainly stands, I believe it also stands that the kindness of persons who adhere to a particular supernatural belief is not in and of itself a reason to also adopt the supernatural belief, even if their example of kindness is one that I think should lead a person to adopt kindness as a moral policy.
