A true celebration of excellence in Indian Cinema, the 57th Idea Filmfare Awards 2011 in Mumbai on the 19th February 2012 was a larger than life spectacle; a glorious representation of its legacy of over five decades. Through the years, Filmfare has become the most awaited event in the industry. It was a night to be remembered as everyone looked on with pride and admiration at the coveted Black Lady was presented to the deserving winners. With a slew of performances by the biggest names in filmdom, the annual Idea Filmfare Awards is now an extravagant gala of glitz, glamour, excitement and entertainment. This year, the Filmfare Awards was hosted by the King Khan Shahrukh Khan and the charming Ranbir Kapoor who bought the house down with their wit and humour. There were power packed performances with the beautiful Kareena Kapoor, vivacious Priyanka Chopra, charming Deepika Padukone and the sizzling Rakhi Sawant setting the stage on fire. The newly wedded star couple Ritesh Deshmukh and Genelia D'Souza performed on the evergreen Pehla Nasha while SRK brought back his Dilwale days dancing to Mehendi Laga Ke Rakhna. Zindagi Na Miley Dobara took away the award for the Best Movie while Rockstar Ranbir won the Best Actor Award. Vidya Balan with her "ooh La la" performance won the Best Actress award"

Wealthy and powerful Thakur Digvijay Singh (Raj Babbar) sets his eye on a beautiful gypsy girl Naina (Twinkle Khanna) and wants to make her his own at any cost. He asks his employee, Balwant (Amrish Puri) to make his son Karan (Ajay Devgan), escort Naina to Thakur's place in the city. On the route to the city, Karan and Naina fall in love with each other. Mamta is married to Vikas and has a boy named Vishwas. Soon Mamta comes to known about Vikas's association with the crime world and leaves her husband. She takes Vishwas along with her and the events that follow makes the world believe that Mamta and Vishwas are dead. A shattered Vikas adopts Priya who is the daughter of a couple that are killed by his criminal associates. A village is terrorized by an evil witch, Nikita, who seduces men and brutally murder's them. Thakur Sameer apprehends Nikita and hangs her in front of the village. However Nikita's disciple's drag her corpse and prepare to resurrect her. Her evil priest decides to use the body of Sameer's niece, Jasmin to house the spirit of Nikita. Successful in his evil act, he brings Jasmin to his father Thakur Mahendra and claims to have rescued her in the jungle and also announces the death of Sameer. Soon Jasmin controlled by the spirit of Nikita behaves strangely and kills her aunt, which is covered up as a suicide. After the trauma, Thakur Mahendra sends Sameer's daughter Preeti to grow up in Mumbai, while Jasmin remains with him. After many years Preeti comes back to meet her uncle and cousin Jasmin. Meanwhile, in the area, brutal murders are occurring, and everyone is baffled. Soon Preeti finds out the truth about Jasmin who goes on a killing spree and is unstoppable. How much blood will be shed till Nikita has her revenge? Can Jasmin be freed of the evil spirit before its too late?

Raju Malhotra (Emraan Hashmi) and Rajan Malhotra (Tusshar Kapoor) study in the same college but are poles apart in everything. While Raju is a brat, poor in studies but good in sports, Rajan is a brilliant student but a zero in extracurricular activities. The college they study in has a new and strict principal Mr. Awasthi (Paresh Rawal) who wants to transform this ill-reputed college into a most flocked one. Hence he divides the students according to their merit. So while Raju is fit for C section comprising of poorly faring students, Rajan easily gets access to the A section with his 90% marks. But Raju falls for a girl in A-section and hence swaps his place with a hesitant Rajan who enters C-section for the first time in his life. Mr. Awasthi comes to know of this and decides to teach them a lesson by sending their names to a quiz and dance competition. So now, geeky Rajan will have to dance while brat Raju will have to answer question hurled at him. What will Raju and Rajan do? Will they accept the challenge or just scoot off?

Shankar (Raaj Kumar) lives in a small village with his son, Mohan, and his devout wife, Durga (Mala Sinha), who is expecting another child soon. Shankar believes in living for the moment without worrying about consequences, while Durga believes that present actions will come back to haunt later in life, and this causes a rift between them. One day Shankar decides to leave and takes Mohan with him, leaving a pregnant Durga alone. Shankar and Mohan take to crime in the big city, and make immense wealth. Meanwhile, Durga gives birth to a boy, Ajay, and is looked after by a Catholic priest. Many years later, Mohan and Shankar have become master minds in operating a crime syndicate, partnering with Keshavlal, a notorious gangster. Ajay (Jeetendra) operates a publication called Karmayogi, in which he does and expose on crimes and criminals like Keshavlal. Soon Shankar is betrayed by his crime syndicate and is sentenced to death and Mohan is arrested for murdering Keshavlal. What cruel games will be played to put an end to Mohan? Will Ajay and Durga accept Mohan or will Mohan succumb to his sins?

Newly wed, Gayatri (Anuradha Patel) arrives at her mother in laws house along with her husband Loknath. When her mother in Law sees that Gayatri has brought no dowry, she gets furious and decides to kill Gayatri the very same night. The wicked mother in law prepares to set Gayatri on fire as Loknath watches on. She is saved by Loknath's friend Triloki who later on intoxicates her and rapes her. Kailash Nath is the manager of a bank and lives happily with his wife, Savitri, and son, Kishan. He is friendly with the Bank Watchman, Shankar, and even arranges the marriage of Kishan with Shankar's daughter, Sanam. Shortly after the marriage of the two children, the bank is robbed; Kailash becomes a suspect, is arrested and sentenced to twelve years in prison. After he completes his sentence he returns home to find out that Savitri and Kishan are not traceable. He also finds out that he was framed for the bank robbery by none other than Shankar, who is now the Mayor of the town. In the meantime, Kishan, now grown up, goes to take Sanam home with him as his bride. What Kishan does know is that Sanam is going to get married to Pradeep, the only son of millionaire Lalla. Kishore (Kishore Kumar) is an unemployed young man who is popularly known as funtoosh among his friends and family. Kishore falls in love with Meena (Kumkum), who belongs to a rich family. Meena's father is a scientist. He is working on a secret formula, which is being sponsored by a wicked businessman, Mr. Shyamlal (S. K. Shyam). Shyamlal's son Ranjan (Anoop Kumar) wants to marry Meena but when he learns that Meena loves Kishore,he tries to create misunderstanding between them. Meena tells Kishore that Shyamlal is forcibly making her father work for the formula with the power of his money. When Shyamlal's plan fails to trap Meena, he sends his man to kill Kishore, who escapes safely to the lab which belongs to Meena's father. There he is zapped by subatomic rays, which turn him into a supernatural strong man. Kishore starts enjoying his new life with superpowers. But later his super powers wear off and he begins to shrink at a very rapid rate. On the other hand Meena is being forced for the marriage with Ranjan. How will Meena get out of this dangerous situation? Can Kishore gain his old personality back before its too late?

Brothers Raja (Sanjay Dutt) and Rahul (Aditya Pancholi) live in a small town in Himachal Pradesh with their widowed mother, Sharda. Ironically, Raja and Rahul fall in love with the same girl, Chinar (Neelam). This movie is the sequel to the cult classic 'Nagina' where the battle rages to possess the 'Naag Mani'. After the tragic deaths of Rajiv and Rajni, their only daughter Neelam (Sridevi) is sent to live in the city. Years later, Neelam has grown up and returns to visit their palatial home in the village. Her grandfather wants her to stay and look after the business there, but she refuses and wants to leave for the city. But when Neelam meets Anand (Sunny Deol), she decides to stay and they fall in love and decide to get married. What Neelam does not know is that Anand was a snake kept in captivity by the wicked sage Goraknath (Anupam Kher), who wants to possess the 'Naag Mani'. Goraknath uses Anand to gain control over Neelam for she is the only one who knows the gem's location. Soon a vicious battle ensues where Goraknath does everything in his power to destroy Neelam and locate the two snakes holding the precious gem. How will Neelam vanquish Goraknath? Can Anand break free of Goraknath's curse? Who will win the final battle?

Notorious criminal Pasha (Amrish Puri) has been sent to jail by the former inspector general of Police Shrikanth Mathur (Shammi Kapoor). An enraged Pasha decides to get even with Shrikanth and hence asks his trusted protégé Jackie (Jackie Shroff) to carry out a plan to get him released from the prison. As directed, Jackie abducts Shrikanth's daughter Radha (Meenakshi Shashadri) in the garb of a police officer. Radha is made to believe that Jackie and his gang of goons are her protectors and are keeping her in the jungle for her safety as her house has been taken over by bandits. As the days passed, Jackie gets increasingly drawn towards Radha and eventually both fall in love with each other. Radha discovers about Jackie's truth but still stays by his side. She even makes Jackie surrender which leads him to spend two years in jail. Radha meanwhile returns to her home and narrates about her love to her brother Damodar (Sanjeev Kumar). Thwarted plans of his release makes Pasha angry and he vows to take revenge from Srikanth and Jackie. Will Jackie and Radha meet? Will their love be accepted by all? A farmer witnesses the crash of a space aircraft and finds a boy in the ruins. The farmer and his wife adopt the child and name him Jai. The stars came down in all their glory. It was a night to be remembered as everyone looked on with pride and admiration at the coveted Black Lady was presented to the deserving winners. A true celebration of excellence in Indian Cinema, the 56th Idea Filmfare Awards 2010 held at the YRF studios in Mumbai on the 29th of January, 2011 was a larger than life spectacle, a glorious representation of its legacy of over five decades. Through the years, Filmfare has become the most awaited event in the industry as everyone looks forward to this night of nights. With a slew of performances by the biggest names in filmdom, the annual Idea Filmfare Awards is now an extravagant gala of glitz, glamour, excitement and entertainment. This year, the 56th Idea Filmfare Awards was hosted by the new kings of cool -- the very suave Imran Khan and charming Ranbir Kapoor who bought the house down with their wit and humour. The performances were power packed with the beautiful Madhuri Dixit unleashing her magic and spellbinding the audience as she danced with Shahrukh Khan to hits from their movies like Devdas and Dil To Pagal Hain. Kareena Kapoor had everyone dancing to her tunes with a medley of songs from 3 Idiots, Golmaal 3, and Jab We Met. Priyanka Chopra set pulses racing and raised the temperature a good few notches with her tribute to Madhuri Dixit. she danced to hits like Ek Do Teen, Choli Ke Peeche and Dola Re. 56th Filmfare Awards - Sonakshi Sinha performance - EXCLUSIVE
The stars came down in all their glory. It was a night to be remembered as everyone looked on with pride and admiration at the coveted Black Lady was presented to the deserving winners. A true celebration of excellence in Indian Cinema, the 56th Idea Filmfare Awards 2010 held at the YRF studios in Mumbai on the 29th of January, 2011 was a larger than life spectacle, a glorious representation of its legacy of over five decades. Through the years, Filmfare has become the most awaited event in the industry as everyone looks forward to this night of nights. With a slew of performances by the biggest names in filmdom, the annual Idea Filmfare Awards is now an extravagant gala of glitz, glamour, excitement and entertainment. This year, the 56th Idea Filmfare Awards was hosted by the new kings of cool -- the very suave Imran Khan and charming Ranbir Kapoor who bought the house down with their wit and humour. The performances were power packed with the beautiful Madhuri Dixit unleashing her magic and spellbinding the audience as she danced with Shahrukh Khan to hits from their movies like Devdas and Dil To Pagal Hain. Kareena Kapoor had everyone dancing to her tunes with a medley of songs from 3 Idiots, Golmaal 3, and Jab We Met. Priyanka Chopra set pulses racing and raised the temperature a good few notches with her tribute to Madhuri Dixit. she danced to hits like Ek Do Teen, Choli Ke Peeche and Dola Re. Amongst the other performers were the melodious Sonu Nigam, Bollywood's new blue eyed girl, Sonakshi Sinha, Anushka Sharma and Ranveer Singh who performed on a medley of songs from last year's box office hit Band Bajaa Baraat. Celebrating 25 years in the film industry, Madhuri Dixit was presented a special honour by the gorgeous Aishwarya Rai Bachchan; whilst Yash Chopra and Shahrukh Khan honoured Bollywood icon, Mr Amitabh Bachchan commemorating his 40 years of absolute dedication to the Indian film industry. The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to legendary singer Manna De who received the honor amidst accolades and praise for his outstanding contribution to Indian Cinema. The 56th Idea Filmfare Awards would be telecast on the 6th of February 2011 exclusively on Sony Entertainment Television.Filmfare celebrated the entire years hard work of Bollywood industry by awarding and appreciating their piece of work on 29th January, 2011 at Yashraj Studios in Mumbai. "How is love supposed to be ? How is it supposed to be? All I could say to her was be your eyes shut, or wide open, you see your beloved." That quote is from the opening speech in this video. I think Shahrukh's performance delivering the speech, as well as throughout this video, is superb. The girl with the cake in the beginning (played by the stunning Aishwarya Rai Bachchan) is the ghost of Sahrukh's love (or a figment of his imagination, depending on your view). No one in the room except for him can see her. She committed suicide when her Father forbade their match. The Father would be the person Shahrukh is speaking of in the speech where he says "but there was someone she was scared of". I love Shahrukh's performance in this whole scene. The speech at the beginning is beautifully spoken, and Shahrukh effortlessly moves from singing and moving normally to dancing and back again. His acting throughout is brilliant. This is the well polished performance of a master of his craft at the height of his game. I also tip my hat to the performances of the six young actors that make up some of the love stories in this movie: Jugal Hansraj, Uday Chopra, Jimmy Shergill, Kim Sharma, Shamita Shetty, and Preeti Jhangiani. The movie is Mohabbatein (Love Stories, in English). And, yes! that is the irrepressible Helen in a cameo at the end. She is the one in a red dress that Shahrukh dances with. And at the very end, the legendary Amitabh Bachchan makes an appearance as the stern headmaster.
