Today is 100 years since the birth of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On August 26, 1910, Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu was born in Skopje, Republic of Macedonia. This would have been Mother Theresa's 100th anniversary if death wouldn't have taken her away on 5th September 1997. Mother Theresa was a Catholic nun of Albanian ethnicity and Indian citizenship. She founded the Missionaries of Charity in Kolkata, India in 1950. For more than 45 years she ministered to the poor, sick, orphaned, and dying, while guiding the Missionaries of Charity's expansion, first throughout India and then in other countries. Following her death she was beatified by Pope John Paul II and given the title Blessed Teresa of Calcutta. Her 100th birth anniversary was celebrated in many places around the world, including the Hariyali Shringar of Baba Batuk Bhairav which was held at Batuk Bhairav temple in Kamachha. Also, the Peace Bridge that spans the Niagara River will be illuminated in blue and white, the colors of Mother Theresa. She fought poverty and hunger, she tried to heal the sick and help the orphans. Mother Theresa was a saint due to all the good deeds she has done to help other people. She should be an example for all of us about how we should help and treat people. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Song "Da go spasime svetot" is macedonian version of the famous Song of Michael Jackson "Heal the World". This macedonian Song sing Karolina, Stevo, Andrijana and Balkan Angel Toše Proeski. Toše (Todor) Proeski, the Macedonian representative at the 2004 Eurovision Song Contest (with the Song „Life or „Angel si ti") who died in a car crash on a Croatian motorway on October 16th, 2007 at the age of 26, was born in Kruševo, Republic of Macedonia in ex Yugoslavia, on 25th January 1981. Toše, a deeply religious person by nature, was also well known for his humanitarian work over the years. He played many charity concerts throught Macedonia and the all Republics of ex Yugoslavia and was the Mother Theresa Humanitarian Award. In 2003 he became a Regional UNICEF Ambassador and the following year he was named a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.
